The Akomplice x Panda Bicycles collab kicks ass

Having the right set of wheels means that you are making a statement. This “Into the Wild” collab between Akomplice and Panda Bicycles is the type that will turn heads on the bike rack, whipping those little messenger caps right off. While bamboo is one of the most naturally durable construction materials it still has flex properties better than the steel or aluminum frames often used in bicycles, meaning a smoother ride while maintaining its structural integrity. Plus, bamboo grows back, unlike its metal alternatives.¬†One more step towards sustainability.

Don’t spin your wheels on this one.

Inspired by the aesthetic and regenerative qualities of bamboo, Colorado cohorts Akomplice and Panda Bicycles take us Into the Wild. On the heels of their collab with Marc Jacobs, Panda Bicycles decided to join forces with Akomplice to design a street-savvy version of their “The One” fixed-gear bike. Fashioned from steel joints and a bamboo frame, the unique design makes for a smoother ride than traditional metal-only frames due to the flex afforded by the bamboo. Interesting fact about bamboo is that it has the ability to grow up to 4 feet within 24 hours. It also has a higher compressive strength than wood, brick or concrete and a tensile strength that rivals steel. This material is a natural choice for both brands as it regenerates quickly, making it sustainable and environmentally conscious.

The fixed-gear bike marks another new vertical foray for Akomplice outside the bounds of apparel. The bike sports a truly unique design with the “Into the Wild” theme manifesting across the frame with a white base offset by stark animal stripes.
