Answering the demands of the next generation of skiers and snowboarders, Giro® is now shipping the Discord helmet and is accompanied by a new technology specific landing page. The new website landing page brings together the backstory behind the R&D on the Soft Shell technology from Giro product designers, athlete stories and Seamless Compatible Giro EXV goggle lockups like the Giro Onset, Compass, Field & Blok goggles while introducing visitors to Giro’s ski and snowboard team riders through a unique collection of athlete photos and videos.

“We launched Soft Shell technology with the Combyn helmet for park and pipe riding where repeated impacts are the price of progression,” said Giro Sr. Vice President Greg Shapleigh. “But, as people continue to take freestyle-influenced riding outside of the park, the Discord answers the needs of riders redefining all-mountain riding. At Giro, we’re excited to expand the Soft Shell collection, adding features and functionality for a increasing variety of riders and riding styles.”

Giro pioneered innovative Soft Shell Construction helmets with the Giro Combyn, providing riders with durability and protection across a wide range of impact types. The Discord adds features like the Auto Loc 2 Fit System and Thermostat Control Adjustable Super Cool Venting to take Soft Shell Construction and performance features into all-mountain and backcountry riding. Riders can also customize the Discord with removable ear pads and a removable goggle retainer, and the Discord is compatible with all aftermarket Giro audio systems.

“Low profile, super comfortable, stacked venting and protection in both high and low impacts, the Discord is the ideal freeride helmet.” said Giro athlete Riley Leboe.

Like the Combyn, the Discord’s liner features two distinct layers of VN that allow the helmet to manage both high and low energy impacts while a flexible outer shell allows a comfortable, low-profile fit. Unlike traditional expanded polystyrene (EPS) or expanded polypropylene (EPP) helmet liners, the VN material is soft and flexible. When matched with a proprietary flexible shell material, the result is a helmet that delivers comfortable performance with unmatched durability.
