Registration for the Junior Freeride World Championships at the Subaru WinterFest in Big Sky, MT will officially open on March 20, 2014, at 10am MST. Junior big mountain snowboarders, aged 12-14 and 15-17 can sign up to compete. The event grants 2-star FWQ points.

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH (March 17, 2014)- The Junior Freeride Tour (JFT) is happy to announce registration for the Junior Freeride World Championship at the Subaru WinterFest in Big Sky, MT will open March 20 at 10AM MST. The event will include junior big mountain skiers and snowboarders ages 12-14 and 15-17 from both the Americas and European regions. Registration fees are $100 per athlete. The event also grants 2-star Freeride World Qualifier (FWQ) point to participants. The 15 to 17-year-old age category competition will be webcast live on Sunday, April 6 on SubaruFreerideSeries.com.

“I’m exceptionally excited for Big Sky this season given the incredible growth of Junior participation in the sport around the world,” said Bryan Barlow Freeride World Tour Americas Event Director. “Big Sky has been having a phenomenal season. Conditions are shaping up for an incredible competition experience for athletes and spectators alike.”

The Junior Freeride Tour competition will take place as part of the Subaru WinterFest, April 4-7, 2014 at Big Sky Resort, MT. The Subaru WinterFest will include weekend activities focused on educating snow enthusiasts of all abilities about the sport and evolution of freeride through unique exhibits. The Subaru Freeride Series adult ski and snowboard competitions will also be taking place as part of the event April 3-6.

The Junior Freeride World Championship will provide athletes the opportunity to compete against the best junior riders from around the world and earn valuable Freeride World Qualifier points. In addition to podium awards, the top Americas (Region 2) riders will be announced.
