BANG-UNIVERSE-WEB

Mikkel Bang has gone 3D, launching his personal website – an interstellar mission into a dimensional universe. With over a decade as a professional snowboarder, Bang decided it was time to collect and share different material and his impressions in one place. Based on the simple idea that travelling is a major part of Bang’s life, his new world brings it all together.

“I wanted it to be playful and a bit demanding. There are so many others that are good at making the world streamlined and user-friendly. I still think there should be a space for art and personal exploration,” Bang explains. The site is more about trying to bring a snowboarding spirit online, than merely adapting content into conventional grids and formats. Just like snowboarding is about pushing oneself to see what’s possible, Bang has applied the same mindset to the web.

“For the curious ones, there is plenty of fresh material from the past, but also the very latest posts. I think most people will find their way around. And I hope they will enjoy it,” says Bang.

Hand-drawn illustrations wrapped around 3D objects; geotagging of the latest posts from Bang’s Instagram; responsive design in HTML5 and a variety of sources stitched together; it all adds up to create something special.
