The SASS Argentina 2014 Women’Session just finished up this past weekend. Session 1c and 2a were designated as a specific two week period for high-end female snowboarders to take their riding to the next level with pro coaching and guiding from Robin Van Gyn and Hana Beaman.

Kaitlyn Farrington (Olympic Gold Medalist), Elena Hight (X-Games Silver Medalist, Olympian), Maddy Schaffrick and Biba Turnbull showed up to round out the talented crew participating in this year’s Women’Session. These girls traveled to Bariloche looking to increase their backcountry knowledge and push their riding outside of the pipe and park with the help of SASS Global Travel.

The SASS Argentina Women’Session was designed to give female clients the platform to expand their riding to include big mountain terrain while educating them on the risks of the backcountry and provide proper knowledge to take on such risks responsibly. SASS wanted to pull back the curtain of intimidation and let ladies experience how the pros ride the backcountry. “Considering it’s my first time here, it was comforting to have a group of such awesome girls for inspiration,” said Maddy Schaffrick. Kaitlyn Farrington was adamant that “we definitely had the most fun on the mountain every day.”

An intro to splitboarding, backcountry hip sessions, avalanche scenario practice and copious amounts of laughter and smiles were all part of the program. Check out #sasswomen and #sassargentina on Instagram for an even better picture of what went down.
