Snowmass open Thanksgiving

The Thanksjibbing Rail Jam will be November 28

Snowmass will open for the season as scheduled on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27.

Snowmass is set to open with more than 500 acres including the Burn wall-to-wall, Sam’s Knob, Upper Campground terrain and six lifts: Elk Camp Gondola, Meadows, Village Express, Big Burn, Sky Cab and Sam’s Knob. The Elk Meadows learning area will be open. There will be a mini-terrain park at Water Plants Flats with a mix of 15 boxes, rails and urban jib. Up For Pizza will operate Thursday through Sunday and Sam’s Smokehouse Coffee Shop will open on Thursday for the season. Ullrhof will be open as well as Elk Camp.

Thanksjibbing, an invite-only rail jam will take place on Friday, November 28 at Snowmass Base Village beginning at 2 p.m. The competition consists of a 45-minute jam session with both skiers and snowboarders, followed by a 20-minute final. The event will give spectators the chance to watch esteemed local riders and skiers including Aidan Sheahan, Chase DeMeulenaere and Mark Pinter.

In addition to the rail jam plenty of fun and excitement with fill base village throughout the afternoon including kid’s activities, a bouncy castle, turkey bowling, a restaurant leftover challenge and a Red Bull DJ keeping the crowd excited while spinning the latest tunes.

Aspen Mountain will also add more terrain to the mix as Copper gulch will open Thursday adding an additional 150-200 additional acres. Bell Mountain is also slated to open and Chair 7 will spin bumping acreage to 260 total.

Single-day lift tickets are $104 for adults, $95 for teens (13-17) and seniors (65+) and $70 for children (7-12). All age groups save by purchasing multi-day tickets – $10 per day savings on 2- and 3-day tickets and $20 per day savings on tickets of 4 days or more. Lift tickets are valid at both Snowmass and Aspen Mountain. As always children six and under ski for free.
