Aspen Snowmass is on track to open 4,100 acres of terrain Saturday, Dec. 20 across the four peaks of Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass and Buttermilk owing to the recent storm cycle that brought up to 21 inches of snow in the past seven days.

Rich Burkley, Vice President of Mountain Operations for Aspen Skiing Company states, “Aspen Mountain will be over 90% open and patrol is working on the last pockets of the Glades and Jackpot. At Highlands, more expert terrain will join the already open Highland Bowl including Child’s Play and Moment Chutes. The Tiehack Chair enters service for the season providing access to lower portions of Racer’s Edge, Javeline, Tiehack Trail and Sterner’s Gulch.”

Over in Snowmass, the Two Creeks, Campground and Coney Glade Chairs will start to spin and patrol will open Burnt Mountain Glades, Long Shot, East Branch, Creekside, Cascade, Campground and Bearclaw trails. In addition to terrain openings, the Two Creeks Café will also open with hot food and beverages.

Friday, Dec. 19 will kick-off the first Ullr Night of the season at Elk Camp on Snowmass accessed via a ride up the Elk Camp gondola. Guests and locals alike can enjoy activities such as a bonfire, s’mores, live music, snowtubing, guided snowshoe tours and more.

Beginning this Friday, Elk Camp at Snowmass will also debut the new lift-served tubing facilities that provide multiple lanes of tubing as well as illuminated runs during the Ullr festivities.

With more snow in the forecast heading into next week, Aspen Snowmass is looking forward to a great Holiday season.
