Aspen Skiing Company (ASC) has closed on a property in Ketchum, Idaho, purchased from Bald Mountain LLC to be developed as a new Limelight Hotel, modeled after the company’s existing property in Aspen, Colo. The property is in close proximity to Sun Valley’s River Run base of Bald Mountain.

Aspen Skiing Company purchased the Limelight in Aspen in 2010 from the Paas/Woolery families. The property features large guest rooms, an expansive and open lounge, expanded continental breakfast, a lobby restaurant and adventure programming for guests.

“We believe that the Limelight would be a great fit for this site and the community,” said Don Schuster, vice president hospitality, Aspen Skiing Company. “We feel the timing is right to grow the Limelight brand and that this property in downtown Ketchum is an ideal location. We look forward to being a part of this great community.”

The property was approved by the City of Ketchum and current entitlements include 119 hotel rooms and suites plus 11 free market residential units. ASC will ask the city for some minor modifications to the approved project to better reflect the Limelight brand, including a reconfiguration of the main floor to create the kind of flow and vibrant atmosphere that has allowed the Limelight Hotel Aspen to be so successful.

The Limelight is consistently ranked as one of the top lodging properties in Aspen on Trip Advisor, and has received numerous awards and accolades including recently being named to Condè Nast Travelers Readers’ Choice Awards Best Hotels in the West list.
