Sometimes when an athlete is signed to a brand it makes you scratch your head and wonder who’s reaching further — the brand for a demographic they don’t currently appeal to, or the athlete for dollars they’re not currently getting. Marie-France Roy joining Patagonia’s ambassador program is the exact opposite of that. From her big-mountain riding style to the environmental ethos that drives her, the alignment between Marie and Patagonia makes total sense. Congrats to both parties involved.

From Patagonia:

Patagonia is proud to announce snowboarder Marie-France Roy has joined our ambassador program.  We are excited and grateful to have Marie on the team as her approach to snowboarding, both on and off the mountain are a great match for Patagonia.

“We couldn’t be happier to welcome Marie to the team.  Her experience, environmental values and attitude are a perfect fit for Patagonia.” says Josh Nielsen, Global Marketing Director at Patagonia.

Marie is known for being one of the most stylish and versatile riders in snowboarding and is also recognized for her humble and giving nature.  She is the recipient of the 2015 Climate Activist Award from Protect Our Winters as well as being named one of ESPN’s Top 50 Best Female In Action Sports in 2015.

She had this to say about joining the Patagonia ambassador family: “It is amazing what Patagonia has been able to achieve over all these years. Not only are they making the best gear out there, they have created a successful business founded around values that I admire and truly believe in.  I am beyond proud and honored to join the Patagonia team.”
