Although it’s dumping in Tahoe right now and everywhere else apparently I managed to pry myself away from home for a relaxing escape to sin city where the Snow Industry Action Sports trade show is currently underway. Well maybe not so much “relaxing” but definitely a different kind of craziness. After many bumpy flights due to stormy weather the week officially began yesterday. The show was already buzzing with news from the moment our crew arrived and we were there in full force ready for anything and everything. Vibrant fluorescent colors are a consistent theme throughout the brands and will be bigger than ever in 09’. Apparently the eighties have finally or sadly come, whichever way you look at it, full circle. Co-branding is also more prevalent than ever. 686 is co-branding with both Levi’s, which is a huge deal because Levi’s has never partnered with an outerwear company and with Famous Stars and Strapes- the complete other side of the spectrum. Ride is co-oping with Tokidoki; the Japanese vinyl dolls. Ride created a complete girls setup inspired by the cute figurines. Spy Optics is busting out the most technologically advanced goggle ever worn. The Apollo features the widest peripheral on the market without the bulkiness of a huge frame. At the end of the day ready to head out the door Pancho got scooter jacked by some wasted kid convinced that the scooter was his. After Panch put the kid in his place it was time to regroup and get ready for the Vans party with the Pussycat Dolls. More to come. Stay tuned.
