And the winner is…
The February issue of SNOWBOARD Magazine featured a special interview with Metallica’s Robert Trujillo rightfully named, “Trapped Under Ice.” As a bonus, we teamed up with Burton Snowboards, www.burton.com, to hold an exclusive contest with a chance to win a customized board designed by Robert himself. Entries from all over North America were gathered. The assignment was easy, log onto Series13.com and design a Metallica/SNOWBOARD Magazine inspired deck. Hundreds of entries were collected and we narrowed it down to one lucky winner. Drknute of Los Angeles, CA designed the winning graphic and is awarded Robert’s personal Series 13 board, an $800 value.
Drknute’s design was chosen based on a few key elements. First, the “fish” board shape is a SNOWBOARD Magazine favorite. Why? Because if you’re riding a fish, that means you’re riding powder…enough said. Second, the color way utilized Metallica’s favorite color, black and our signature green. It just works. Finally, the clincher was the personalized base logo. The phrase, “Nothing Else Matters” is a Metallica song and when used as a graphic it seemed to sum up the reason why we all snowboard in the first place…when you’re riding, nothing else seems to matter.
Congrats to Drknute and special thanks goes out to Burton’s Nancy Carlson and Metallica’s Robert Trujillo for making this contest possible. Stay tuned to snowboard-mag.com for more upcoming contests and more chances to win sweet prizes.—Jeff Baker
