Finch Wins Nissan X-Trail Quarterpipe in Tokyo
Portland, Oregon (Dec 14) - The sweet taste of victory was firmly on Palmer
rider Andy Finch's lips this week. The 2004 Arctic Challenge winner added
the Nissan X-trail Jam Quarterpipe title to his long and distinguished list
of snowboarding accolades. The 5th edition of the Nissan X-trail event,
staged inside the massive Tokyo Dome in Japan, provoked a host of
snowboarding's household names as well as local heroes to duke it out over
the quarterpipe and big air disciplines. The event also marked the beginning
of the 2004/05 Ticket To Ride (TTR) tour.
On day one, in front of a huge crowd totalling 25,000 plus, Finch competed
with the star-studded line up including the likes of Travis Rice (placing
second) and Terje Haakonsen (placing third). On day two, Heikki Sorsa of
Finland won the kicker event in front of a monstrous crowd of 40,000 with
Finch placing second and followed by Travis Rice in third.
With the first win of the season under his belt, Andy now heads back to the
Breckenridge, Colorado for the Grand Prix.
