I’ve been to the interior of BC many times, but I’ve never made it to Kicking Horse. All of the stories about how good the snow in BC’s interior are true. It receives storm upon storm most winters, which makes it seems like a never-ending powder day.

Scotty Conerly, the Dakine TM and marketing guy threw the idea together. He wanted to do some “real” snowboarding. No helicopters, cats or snowmobiles involved. He wanted to get some of his team together and ride the way everyone else rides, either on the lift or hiking. Since I had been hearing about Kicking Horse for so long and know that British Columbia is always a treat, I suggested that we try it out.

The trip included, Annie Boulanger, Curtis Ciszek, Justin Baun and Eric Jackson. It also included seemingly every university student in all of Alberta, Canada. Of course that’s not true, but it was really crowded with students on their winter break. Normally, being surrounded by 20 year olds would have had us all heading for the nearest airport, but at Kicking Horse it just made us look a little harder to find the goods. Plus, the terrain is so good that even when it’s tracked out it’s still hard not to have a good time.

Kicking Horse may well be the best resort area I have ever ridden. A special thanks to Scotty at DaKine, Jordan at Kicking Horse resort and everyone at Bramble Ski for the accommodations.
