On November 28, Big Sky, Moonlight, and Spirit Mountain will open their slopes for the first time as one cohesive resort. Joined together, this means over 5,750 acres will be accessible through one resort. Sky Card holders can ski free from December 1-8, and the resort will also be offering $20 lift tickets to anyone looking to ride on December 6. In addition to this massive expanse in terrain, Big Sky has revamped its beginner park, to help new riders progress.

Big Sky, Mont. (November 20, 2013) – November 28, 2013, Thanksgiving Day, Big Sky Resort will launch into their first season, as one resort, together with Moonlight and Spirit Mountain, bringing 5,750 acres under one lift ticket . Big Sky Resort will open as much terrain as Mother Nature and the snowmaking crew will allow.
The Moonlight terrain and Madison Base area will be open for the season on December 7, 2013 and the Spanish Peaks area of Spirit Mountain will open on December 13, 2013.
In the tradition of offering great value during early season, Big Sky Resort is offering $20 lift tickets on December 6, 2013. That same day Moonlight Unlimited and Mid-week pass holders can go directly to the lifts currently open. Saturday and Sunday, December 7-8, 2013 all Moonlight Unlimited pass holders and Big Sky Gold, Silver and Bronze pass holders will have access to all the open terrain of Big Sky Resort, including the terrain in Moonlight. What better time to try before you buy, as season pass holders have until December 31, 2013 to upgrade their season passes to the Biggest Skiing in America pass.
Sky Card holders receive free skiing from December 1-8, 2013 when they present their Sky Card at the ticket window. Big Sky Bronze pass holder’s free ski days start December 8, 2013 and continue until Christmas day.
Big Sky Resort improved the configuration of the beginner ski and snowboard area located immediately outside the Snowcrest Lodge in the Mountain Village. The improvements provide students of all ages the development steps to evolve into lifelong participants of snow sports. The new design eases the learning progression through three surface lifts and the only skill required is standing on a conveyor.
Absolute beginner children step onto the Small Fry surface lift in a virtually level area, located immediately outside the Snowcrest Lodge Big Sky Mountain Sports School facility. This
Children’s Bowl has added a second, longer, surface lift, called Beehive Basin, to improve the lesson experience for all children in the Big Sky Mountain Sports School program.
A newly purchased surface lift, Middle Basin, was installed this summer and seamlessly links the Children’s Bowl and the Bear Basin surface lift. Bear Basin has been moved to far skiers right adding more ideal beginner terrain, to prepare students for steeper slopes, wider turns, and to graduate to the beginner chairlift. Adult first time skiers and riders learn the fundamentals in a safe and easy environment, learning safety, equipment and how to dress for comfort.
In addition to the Mountain Village, Big Sky Mountain Sports School will also be located at the Madison Base in the Moonlight Basin area offering the same snow sports services.
Big Sky Resort has created one of the finest Snowsports Schools in America with a diverse staff of instructors, all certified by Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA)/American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI), with the goal to help adults or children, groups or private lessons in skiing or snowboard, advance to the Biggest Skiing in America® experience. The redesign will help guests taking lessons enjoy our entry level terrain with less effort.
