Host: Skiing legend Chris Davenport

Adventurers:
Shannon Galpin, Humanitarian

In October 2012, as U.S. and NATO forces made plans to wind down their 11-year-long campaign in Afghanistan, mountain biker and activist, Shannon Galpin, braved some of the most violent periods in Kabul, Afghanistan while creating a street art exhibition called “Streets of Afghanistan.” Using art as activism and photography as voice, Galpin organized a collection of photos and portraits to show every day life in Afghanistan to bring attention to women’s rights in the war-torn nation.

Jeremy Jones, Backcountry Snowboarder
Snowboarder magazine voted Jones “Best Big Mountain Snowboarder of the Year” nine times. In 2012, Jones starred in Further, a film project in which he explored four of the remotest locations he could find—Japan’s Alps, Austria’s Karwendelgebirge Range, the Norwegian archipelago Svalbard just 600 miles from the North Pole, and Alaska’s Wrangell-St. Elias. He navigated winds capable of knocking a rider from his feet, lived for days on end in subzero temperatures, and negotiated some of the most challenging avalanche terrain on the planet.

Josh Dueck, Paraplegic Freeskiier
Dueck became the first paraplegic skier to land a backflip in February 2012. He achieved this feat from atop a massive jump at Powder Mountain Catskiing outside of Whistler, British Columbia and repeated it six more times that day.
