Last season anon. took quick-change lens technology to a whole new level with the introduction of the M1, the goggle that uses magnets to quickly change out its lens when the weather turns. Fast forward one year and anon. is taking the technology and style even further with the M2, a brand new offering scheduled to hit stores in the fall of 2013. The M2 resembles the M1 in many ways but with a few minor differences.

Right off the bat you’ll notice the M2’s clean, rimless design. The frame is 3mm taller than the M1, at 96mm, and sports eight magnets around the frame to hold the lens in place. When you’re ready to change optics all it takes is a quick twist of the frame and the lens pops off. But here’s where it gets good. Once you’ve chosen your new lens, you can literally throw it onto the goggle and the magnets will pull it into place. No need to remove your goggle and tinker with it until it’s perfectly in place.

We tested it out a handfull of times and even though you can’t throw it on from across the room (we’d love to see that video), once you get the hang of it, you can easily do it from a foot away from your face.

One question does come to mind: Will the lens pop off when you go down hard? Since we haven’t technically took it on snow, and we rarely fall here at Snowboard Magazine, we can’t really answer that question. But the consensus in the office is that if you crash hard enough to pop them off, you’ll have bigger things to worry about than your lens.

Other than the new 8-point Magne-Tech Quick Lens Change technology, the M2 snowboard goggles come with a dark smoke spherical lens, a spare graybird lens, triple layer face foam for a comfortable fit, wall-to-wall vision for great peripheral and full perimeter venting so you never fog up. One thing to note: the M2’s strap doesn’t sport silicone to help with slippage – which is the least of your worries.
