Giro Snow: December First Friday 50 Combyn Helmet hand-painted by Kris Markovich
The December drop features hand-painted artwork by the legendary Kris Markovich, the skateboarder who was iconic in what people thought could be done on a skateboard.
(December 6; Santa Cruz, California) Inspired by park and pipe riding where repeated impacts are the inevitable price of progression, the Combyn™ brings new technology like a Vinyl Nitrile (VN) liner and Soft Shell Construction to freestyle riders. The December drop features hand-painted artwork by the legendary Kris Markovich, the skateboarder who was iconic in what people thought could be done on a skateboard.
“Markovich is a legend and inspiration to a generation of skaters and snowboarders. His skating and style personally influenced me and his big gap skating helped push skateboarding to new realms. Snowboarding has always drawn influence from skateboarding, and as Kris and others started going bigger and bigger, it helped influence and shape today’s current level of snowboarding.” said Brendan Murphey, Giro Brand Manager. “Kris’ style is constantly evolving on and off his board…his fine art and gestural abstract style are a perfect fit for Giro, the Combyn™ helmet and riders. At Giro, we’re inspired by art, California culture and the outdoors… Kris’ art fit well with the Combyn and the brand direction…”
The Giro Combyn™ employs a patent pending, impact absorbing liner made with Vinyl Nitrile (VN) foam. The liner features two distinct layers of foam that allow the helmet to manage both high and low energy impacts across a wide range of temperatures. Unlike traditional expanded polystyrene (EPS) or expanded polypropylene (EPP) helmet liners, the VN material is soft and flexible. When matched with a proprietary shell material, originally developed for football and hockey helmets, the result is a helmet that delivers a comfortable and flexible fit with unmatched durability.
• Soft Shell Construction
• Dual Density Vinyl Nitrile (VN) Liner
• Fit Kit™ Pad System
