The first Junior Freeride World Championships by The North Face will take place at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, Utah this weekend April 5-6, 2013. The event features top youth skiers and snowboarders ages 15-17 from around the world in an exciting big mountain competition. For the first time, top youth European freeriders, qualified through the DAKINE Freeride Juniors, will join their North American peers on Snowbird’s legendary terrain. A live webcast of the event will be available at 10 a.m. MDT on JuniorFreerideTour.com, FreerideWorldTour.com and PowderMag.com.

A spring snowstorm that left more than a foot in Little Cottonwood Canyon has freshened up conditions for what promises to be an exciting display of the future of big mountain freeriding. “The level of skill these athletes have demonstrated throughout the season is truly incredible,” said JFT Event Director Jeff Berman of Mountain Sports International. “We are excited to witness the crowning of true Junior World Champions for the first time in history at Snowbird.”
