The Vimeo Festival and Awards recognize the best videos on Vimeo.com as determined "not by how many people in the world [have] seen them, but by how they moved people and helped people see deeper into the world."

Now in its second year—founded in 2010, but taking a break for 2011—the Vimeo Awards honor the following categories: Motion Graphics, Animation, Captured, Documentary, Series, Experimental, Remix, Fashion, Lyrical, Narrative, Music Video, Advertising, and—new this year—Action Sports. As part of the Festival, Vimeo hosts talks, workshops, screenings and more.

Grants of $5,000 will be awarded to the winners of each category, and a grant of $25,000 will be presented to the winner of the Best Video Award. Awards will be held June 7 at 8pm at the NYU Skirball Center.

Public voting is now open; click here to vote. The shortlisted videos in the Action Sports category are embedded below for your viewing enjoyment. Amongst the selections is Jenny Jones: Permanent Vocation produced by Johannes Östergård.
