Trail running at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

New this summer Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) will offer private summer guided running and hiking products to compliment the expanded daily lift service. Starting Saturday, June 18th through Labor Day weekend, the Aerial Tram, Bridger Gondola and Teewinot chairlift will be operating daily, all accessed through one affordable and easy pass, the Tram-Tri Pass.

The Teton Village trail system, which has significantly expanded over the last few years, is perfect for an adventure run or hike. Take advantage of the expanded lift system to access the high alpine, or explore the valley floor – there is now something for every type of runner and hiker. NEW this summer JHMR is offering private guided runs, clinic and more with the Born to Run Coach, Eric Orton. “We are proud to offer a comparable guided mountain experience in the summer season to what offer in winter,” stated Jim Kercher, JHMR Mountain Sports School Director. “Allowing guests to break out of their comfort zone and find achievement in the mountains is one of the most rewarding and memorial experiences Jackson Hole can offer, and we are excited to see our summer business growing in that direction,” Kercher went on to note.

The signature race event on the JHMR single track trail system is the annual Rendezvous Hill Climb. The Hill Climb is one of the most challenging mountain running races in the west, and is hosted by Teton Trail Runners and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) as a non-profit fundraiser. New this year the race comes with a $5,000 cash purse with a $500 bonus for the first runner to break an hour.

The course which climbs over 4,100 vertical feet in only 6.1 miles is 95% single track trail. Last August was the first year the race took place on this single track course, and the course record was set at 1 hour and 9 minutes. With only 250 spots available, the race is expected to sell out. Hosted the first weekend of August annually the Hill Climb is a tribute to friend and longtime JHMR Aerial Tram mechanic Chris Onufer (Captain “X”), who on March 7th 2012 tragically passed away in an avalanche.
