There’s one thing you can always count on from Eero Ettala: quality. The boy produces and others have taken notice from his praised video parts and signature line with Oakley to his own Fuel TV series and his high traffic website, ettala.com. The Finnish lad is one of the most creative and inspiring shreds in the biz. Eero gives us a little insight on his recent knee injury and what’s he’s doing to not go nuts while he’s stuck on the couch.
Where you at right now?
I just got back home to Helsinki from the ISPO trade show in Germany.
If people have been following you on your website, then they know that your recently had knee surgery. How are you feeling?
I am actually feeling good. The surgery was one month ago and I am already walking around close to normal. Basically the only thing that I am missing in my life right now is snowboarding and skateboarding.
What’s the recovery time looking like?
The basic 6 months, so I got 5 months to go still!
You had knee surgery before though?
Yeah this was my thirrd ACL surgery. Two surgeries on my right knee and one on my left. I hope this was it for the surgeries.

Were you still able to film some before it happened?
Yeah actually I had a fairly good start for the season. I basically got around two minutes worth of footage…Half a part, haha.
What’s your plan right now for the remainder of the season?
I’ll just do some PR stuff with all my sponsors here and there. I’m trying to stay at home as much as possible to rehab and get strong again, then getting back on my board for my signature HCSC session in July!
What do you do not to go crazy while you’re laid up?
The first week was pretty bad, but now I have been out there filming my friends snowboarding and taking photos, keeping myself busy. It hasnt been that bad actually.

I’ll try to keep the site alive forsure even though I’m hurt. I’ll have some updates about my recovery and I’m just filming my friends and posting footage of them. Markku Koski and Fredu Sirvio have been playing a big role so far helping me out keeping the site alive. I got a filmer too that films a bunch of the stuff for the site, his name is Joonas and really films amazing stuff!

You have a complete signature series with Oakley again for 2011/12. What inspired your colorways and designs?
I wanted to go a bit more towards the street fashion look again. I just thought of cool colors that go well together, so i picked green and white. I am real satisfied on how it came out. The white jacket makes my face look more tan. Haha.
