Burton’s “13″ rolls through Denver
With premiere season in full swing and snow starting to accumulate at higher elevations Burton rolled through Denver and dropped us a quick history lesson as they premiered the new flick 13 (watch the trailer here) at the Ogden Theater.
Before the show went off the snowboard industry gathered at the Burton showroom in South Denver for food, drinks (a lot of adult ones) and a quick history lesson from Todd Kohlman, Burton’s director of archives and all around snowboard history buff.
With DJ Largechild on the ones and twos, Todd ran us through Burton’s legendary history from its first high-back bindings and first snowboard with metal edges to today’s advanced tech found throughout the entire Burton line. With old-school videos playing like Burton’s first ever team video Winter Waves produced in Manchester, Vermont, everyone present was in awe with the entire collection of Burton nostalgia.
After a few too many cocktails everyone headed over to the Ogden Theater for the athlete signing and premiere. Jussi Oksanen, Jeremy Jones and Zak Hale were present to support the new movie and sign autographs on whatever various things fans brought them. As the crowd poured in, DJ Largechild continued his domination of the turntables and the pros tossed out tons of Burton shwag to a packed theater.
Once the movie started everyone went wild. Each part brought a fresh new style and location from around the world as Burton seamlessly mixed together park, street and big mountain riding into 44 minutes of snowboard pornography.
Once the movie finished the crowd made their way to Shag Lounge for the official after party where we found ourselves dancing on stripper poles and showering each other with bottles of (hopefully expensive) champagne. It was a night to remember for sure and everyone who was present helped make this year an iconic year for Burton as they celebrate 13 years of making some of the best products in snowboarding.
