My Favorite Photo with Sean Kerrick Sullivan
I like this image because it sucks me in. Basically, a really nice photo should suck you in and make it almost impossible to stop looking at. That’s what this does for me, and that’s why I like it.
I like using strobes at night when you can create negative space with rich black tones, and I love using strobes to freeze action and capture motion. The blurry wall and the ghost coming off Cam Fitzpatrick shows a ton of speed, yet Cam is perfectly frozen. Then, I look at the snowflakes, and those show motion, but not nearly as much as the feature and the ghost.
This photo wasn’t easy to shoot, and I like that too, I don’t think it’s fair that the riders are the ones constantly expected to take risks and push themselves. Creating an image you weren’t sure you could make gives the same uplifiting feeling as landing something sick on your snowboard, and I think that’s why we all love snowboarding and photography.
