Alex Rodway grew up in the Lakes Region of Maine, where an icy day was far more likely than a pow day, and it wasn’t out of the ordinary for the thermometer to stay below zero weeks at a time. Riding at Sugarloaf with the Carrabassett Valley Academy team laid down the framework, and reaffirmed that the Ice Coast breads some seriously strong board control. From Maine, Alex made the snowboarders’ pilgrimage to Utah to spend his winters riding pow, and the warmer months at Mt. Hood working as a coach for HCSC. A journey that any snowboarder would dream of, and one that has not only transitioned him through the competition circuit, but has ultimately landed him in the backcountry.

As a snowboarder, Alex has always made style his priority, and his riding oozes with ease whether he is lapping the park at Brighton, or pinning shoots deep in the Wasatch. While the up-and-coming big mountain rider is often overlooked, Alex is definitely worth keeping an eye on. Rodway rides for volcom, K2, and Giro.
