Soulful. That’s what we would say to describe Bryan Iguchi‘s riding. As one of the snowboarding’s most long standing pro riders, “Guch” moved from his home state of California over a decade ago to seek refuge in the mountains surrounding Jackson Hole. In those years he has become a fixture in the JHMR snowboarding community, growing alongside fellow Jackson regulars Mark Carter, Travis Rice and Rob Kingwill. With Bryan making the transition to Arbor it marks a major addition to the brand’s team, both in expertise and to have one of our lifestyle’s truly cherished riders representing the company.

Official release from Arbor Snowboards:

As Arbor Snowboards starts its 20th year in business, it is proud to announce a new partnership with friend and legend, Bryan Iguchi. Arbor considers this a foundation level alliance that unites past, present, and future.

Appreciation for Bryan’s contribution to snowboarding seems to only grow with time. As many know, Guch helped create the modern snowboard park as part of the original Bear Mountain crew. He was an important voice in the development of the modern snowboard shape, working with Burton in the 90’s. He helped define the snowboard video part in early Mack Dawg and Volcom films. He helped build the momentum and importance of snowboard competitions. And since packing his bags and moving to Jackson Hole in ‘95, he has helped pioneer backcountry-freestyle, reconnecting the sport’s diverging disciplines into the on-mountain pursuit we know today.

“By the time Guch left Big Bear for Jackson Hole, he had already helped inspire the wave of snowboard brands that came out of Southern California during that period. Arbor was one of those brands,” said Arbor’s Founder, Bob Carlson. “For the last 20 years he has continued to be a source of inspiration as we’ve built the Arbor program.”

Bryan Iguchi is an innovator, ambassador, artist, and leader. Through it all, he has never been afraid to walk away from the limelight and conventional thinking in order to evolve as a rider. His instinct for the arc of progression in snowboarding has made each stand-alone period in his career simply chapters in a powerful and ongoing story.

“For Arbor Snowboards, Guch brings a lifetime of experience to our product, team, and filming efforts,” said Arbor Snowboards’ Brand Manager, Matt Patti. “Working together, we now have a unique opportunity to blend that knowledge into everything we’re doing, including a range of collaborative snowboard designs to come.”

“Snowboarding has given me a deep connection to the mountains,” said Bryan Iguchi. “Arbor’s tree icon is symbolic of this to me. Their roots building boards with wood grain topsheets is something I’ve always appreciated. I’ve now been riding Arbor for two months and I’m amazed by the quality and performance I’ve experienced. It’s an honor to be working with them.”

Bryan Iguchi joins Frank April, Mark Carter, Curtis Woodman, Brandon Hammid, and Scotty Vine on the Arbor Snowboards pro team. He is the third new Arbor rider announced this month, rounding off an expansion that defines the program’s direction.

“As we reach the 20 year mark and celebrate what got us here, we couldn’t think of anyone more ideal to head into the future with,” added Carlson. “Bryan’s perspective and relentless sense of progression reinforces the roots and feeds the vision.”
