French photographer Matt Georges is one of the most respected lensmen on a snowboard. One trip this winter brought him to the easternmost province of Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador or, en français, Terre Nueve et Labrador with Wojtek Pawlusiak, Kalle Ohlson and Sami Luhtanen of the Pirates crew.

However this is not a normal edit. As with most snowboard videos, one can assume with relative certainty that it was filmed on a professional video camera. But this was recorded entirely on a camera phone, the Nokia Lumia 1020. This squashes the predisposition that in order to create something extraordinary a snowboard filmer has to own the best equipment, though I am not saying it does not help. What it shows is you need to learn to have something that Matt Georges and a handful of others in snowboard cinematography truly possess.
