Burton Snowboards: Wild on B – US Open in the 80s

Not everyone in the 80's had a mullet, but it's safe to say that over 80% of them did. Back then, snowboarding was all about making it down the hill in one piece with both feet in your bindings and getting above the lip in hand-dug halfpipes. Things are a little different these days, what with machine groomed superpipes, triple corks and all, but you have to start somewhere.

The 30th US Open of Snowboarding runs from March 7-10 at Stratton Mountain Vermont. Come and watch in person, or check out the live stream, either way it will be entertaining and history making.

The US Open? Ya, there's an App for that. Check out the free US Open History app for the iPad. Check out classic photos, event highlights, quotes from the legends, and the boards beneath the riders. Bone up on that shred nostalgia and get ready because the US Open is right around the corner.
