It’s riders like Ståle Sandbech that are pushing snowboarding in the direction that it needs to go. Even though I’ve expressed my grievances towards triple corks, he can make tricks that big look insane. His style is signature. Oakey’s Snowboarding For Me nailed it by featuring this segment of the movie on Ståle; he deserves it. Everyone should take notes on this Norwegian, he’s doing it right. I thought it was appropriate to pull quotes from his peers for their words speak much louder than mine.

“I think I was inspired most by the riders that were riding the most. People that were riding so much that they could make tricks their own. I definitely see Ståle as one of those riders. The tricks that he’s doing, he’s done those tricks a thousand times. He’s put his own tweaks and own style on all of them now, and I think that’s so cool to see. It’s getting to the point where I’m trying to learn some of the stuff that he’s doing because he’s doing them so different and cool. He’s got his own style now, and that’s something I look for every day on a snowboard.” — Torstein Horgmo

“That’s his style. Making the hardest move at the most critical part look easy.” — Nicolas Müller

Ståle Sandbech’s complete segment from “Snowboarding: For Me.” In the words of Danny Kass, “[style] isn’t just in how you grab or how you ride, but it’s about how big you go and your attitude.” In that sense, Stale is the epitome of style in this new generation of snowboarders.
