Snowboarding’s portrayal in popular culture can be misguided. Though our lifestyle has certainly evolved over the past decade or more, the label of “extreme” has been an unmoving cornerstone of how most people perceive snowboarding, a result of the legacy that corporate marketers relentlessly pushed during the 2000s. The reboot of the cult classic Point Break essentially continues this trend. However, that may not be a bad thing.

Over the past several years, the number of people participating in snowboarding has been stagnant. The cost of participation among the contributing factors, but another could be the frequency by which the general public is exposed to our lifestyle. As seen in this exclusive snowboarding featurette, including authentic riders like Lucas Debari, Xavier de le Rue, Ralph Backstrom and Mike Basich goes a long way to validate the snowboarding in Point Break, especially at a time when we need to introduce more people to what we love.
