In a world of triple corks, X Games, and uninspired internet webisodes, the progression and current stage of snowboarding is relentlessly in your face. The pace of production alone has been driven to an unstable rattle, like a high speed train, just tempting to jump the track. The need to produce often outweighs the desire to produce, and as a result, snowboarding has adapted an almost cookie cutter nature. A predictable, albeit reliable, snooze fest.

Now along come Mikey Wright, Mathieu Crepel, Austen Sweetin, Atsushi Ishikawa, Matt Hoy, Zach Miller, and Bryan Fox on another trip down under “for the fun of riding with mates.” I had to check the date on this video more than once to convince myself that this wasn’t some gem from five to ten years ago making a surprise resurface. Was it the filming, a direct ode to 90’s skateboarding, full of rough takes, shaky holds, and less then 1080p HD footy? Or the reminiscent attitude towards board culture in general—not giving a single fuck. It also could have been the multi-sport nature, stacked with clips that embody culture and personality, rather than simply progression and brand agenda. Perhaps more likely it was a combination of the three, that makes Radical Times with Mates!, the most recent update in Quiksilver’s Radical Times series, so damn refreshing.

Kick back and join the adventure to the land of Aussie, and then get outside to skate, surf or ride. But make sure to grab a mate and have the best of times, because nothing is more fun then boarding with friends.
