Shaun White appears on Today Show to discuss 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia

Well, there you have it… Coverage of snowboarding in the Olympics has begun (not officially) as Shaun White appears on the Today Show to discuss the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

After watching this “amazing” coverage, I find it funny that mainstream media still has no clue what snowboarding is, even though they tend to exploit it for its popularity and cool factor. The questions they ask are quite funny to people in the industry and people who actually snowboard. “What is slopestyle exactly”, was one of my favorites. But then again, to mainstream media watchers, they really have no clue. So props to them for helping sort out the differences between halfpipe and slope. Because my grandparents actually enjoy watching Shaun going f-ing huge in the halfpipe and always follow up with long phone call to see if I know Shaun because I work in the industry. Love you Grandma!

On the other hand, we can’t wait for the Olympics to kick off. There’s nothing like countries battling against each other to prove who is more dominant in sports.

Go America!
