To the people that breathe snowboarding, our lifestyle is alive and well. But to those who don’t know how rewarding and fulfilling it is to strap in to a snowboard, Alex Andrews has decided to take it upon himself to put the roots of our culture on display.

In the early years of the Minnesota shred scene there was an exodus of riders heading towards the mountains of the West. But within the last decade that trend has shifted and more snowboarders are staying put. Pros like Jake Olson-Elm, Joe Sexton, Zac Marben, Jordan and Jonas Michilot, and a slew of others are helping contribute to a vibrate scene of upcoming snowboarders groomed by rope tow and street spots. What Minnesota lacks in elevation it compensates in community and passion, because that’s what it takes to make it there. Boardshops like Cal Surf, Zombie, The Youth Shelter Supply, and Damage do an incredible job of cultivating this scene and support kids who just love to snowboard, as well as brands like 1817 and The Interior Plain Project.

The first episode of Snowboarding’s Dead highlights some of the most important epicenters of Midwest riding: Hyland Hills, the Hiawatha Bowl, the city parks that are scattered throughout the Twin Cities, and the rail haven of Trollhaugen.
