Watch as SPT explains the making of the Red Bull Double Pipe:

From Red Bull:

Thanks to a herculean effort and left over X Games snow, what was a pipe dream, is now a reality.

Two and a half years in the making, several changes to the concept, and various proposed locations; side-by-side superpipes are no longer a simple pipe dream, it’s now a reality in Aspen, Colorado.

With the magic (over 1,000 man hours) of Snow Park Technologies, Double Pipe was made possible at the base of Buttermilk Mountain thanks to the amount of snow X Games left behind.

Not many locations have the resources to pull something off at this scale, but utilizing snow from the slopestyle, snowcross, and big air courses, SPT was able to move enough snow to build two superpipes.

Now it’s up to the riders to work closely with course builders to dial in the perfect pipes in time for competition on Saturday.

Here’s a look into how the original sketch has evolved.
