Boddington, Boyd conquer 2nd stop of the Subaru Freeride Series in Telluride

Despite temperamental conditions, the second stop of the Subaru Freeride Series went off in Telluride, CO this past weekend, with Mary Boddington taking her second consecutive win as Colin Boyd topped the men’s podium. The competition, which took place under the Palmyra Peek on the Black Iron Bowl, is a 4-start qualifier for the Freeride World Tour. Fluidity and control are the main judging criteria, and Boddington’s aggressive, smooth riding earned her a score of 138.67 and first place.

“The competition was a lot of fun today!” Boddington beamed. “The snow wasn’t the most ideal, but it is so awesome taking the podium two times in a row. I hope to make this a triple win at Big Sky.”

Boyd took on Dihedral face, laying down a clean, consistent line capped off by a switch butter 270. Boyd’s score of 159.67 topped the field, as Vincent Remmel of Whitefish, MT took a 150.33 and second place.

“I felt pretty good about my performance today,” Boyd stated. “My run didn’t go exactly as planned, it was pretty tough conditions amongst a lot of really good riders, I feel lucky to come out on top.”
