As many of you may know, an event that happens around the middle of summer up here on Mt. Hood is the Bode Merrill Mini Pipe Invitational. Due to lack of snow (don’t hold your breath folks), Bode decided to do what everyone was calling the Bode Merrill “Medium” Quarterpipe Invitational. Let’s just say this was a blessing in disguise and was one for the books. The contest consisted of two heats and was rider judged. Heat 1 was judged by heat 2 and vice versa. There were slams, lands, doubles and close calls throughout the day but what is snowboarding without any of that? With Matty Mo lugging all of his DJ equipment to the spot, it honestly felt like one big party and kept the fuel going for everyone; there was no down time for anyone. Needless to say, the entire day consisted nothing short of boosted airs, the largest dose of plants you’ll get in one day, lots of camaraderie, and stoking out the homies.

In my opinion, shooting film has a certain power to bring out true character in all scenarios, especially with people. With events like the Bode Merrill Invitational and the Dirksen Derby; they are so special to all of us and to shoot a roll or two is totally worth it.

Thank you to Salomon Snowboards, Billabong, Skullcandy, anon. and High Cascade for supporting an event for the fun of snowboarding.
