Going to Alaska seems mind blowing, but getting deeper into your own backyard can reveal unimaginable opportunity. I was fortunate enough to spend a spring day in the Mt. Baker backcountry shooting with the boys from WildCard Movies.

wildcard_right_photo.jpgNorthWest legends Kurt Jenson and Pat McCarthy were on the scene as well as local shreds Forrest Burki, Joe Bosler, Andy Bergin-Sperry, Nick Ennen and many more. Our crew was something around 12 sleds deep that day, 3 of which ended up being towed out. The shoot was motivated by filmer Jeremy Dubs who rented a chopper for two hours of film time that day.

We all hustled up the whoops that morning and had four jumps built before the bird was in the air. The chopper circled, the boys dropped and hammers were had by all. McCarthy's step-down jump and Boslers' hip were highlights of the day. Dubs slayed some shots from the heli and was pumped to not have crapped his pants.

There is nothing like telling your crew you'll be bringing out the heli to get everyone motivated. Jumps were built, landings were destroyed and sunburns were gained all around. The NW is a beautiful area packed full of talented people and unique personalities. There is no mold here in the NW, identities are infinite and constructed by each individuals way of life, beliefs and passions. I love snowboarding and living here and will continue to do so as long as my body allows.
