Bob Costas, who is set to be the prime time and late night anchor for the Olympics, is earning himself no shortage of flak for taking a solid stab at snowboarders and skiers alike, likening slopestyle to Johnny Knoxville’s “Jackass” on the Today show. “Jackass,” if you’re unfamiliar, is a show about a bunch of guys doing the craziest, wackiest shit you can imagine. To be sure, it’s an insult to the snowboarders that have worked their asses off and risk their lives daily to compare their talents to the “Jackass crew” and their pension for being dumbasses. Funny dumbasses, but dumbasses.

Costas states, “I think the president of the IOC should be Johnny Knoxville, because basically this stuff is just jackass stuff they invented and called olympic sports.” Yikes. Bad call Costas.

Todd Richards took to FB to express his issue with Costas words, writing, “So let me get this straight: all the sacrifices of body and mind I, and countless others have made to progress the discipline of slope style, have now been reduced to the byproduct of an MTV show based on shitting your pants, by someone that is ‘hosting’ the Olympics? On behalf of NBC’s snowboarding coverage team I apologize to everyone in the sport. This does not represent the feelings of the people that work hard to bring you the snowboarding broadcasts. Sincerely, Todd Richards NBC Olympic snowboarding analyst.”

Boom. Well said Richards, bad move Costas.
