In May 2018, Japanese snowboarder Kokomo Murase, 13, became the youngest X Games medalist. She stunned judges, capturing gold in the Women’s Big Air competition for her double cork 1080 and a double cork 1260. She is the first woman to land the latter in an X Games competition.
Today, at the Junior World Championships in Cardrona, New Zealand, she threw down a flawless practice lap in the park infused with style and strength. The significance of her X Games performance and her presence in Cardrona cannot be overstated. Murase is blazing an inspiring path for young women who have long been under-represented in the sport.
Slopestyle finals at the 2018 Junior World Champs in @CardronaNZ should be getting underway around 10:45 local time! Watch a hot lap with top ladies' qualifier Kokomo Murase (JPN) here and get ready for the action.
