Two score and ten years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new mountain, conceived in jiberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all people deserve an awesome place to snowboard. It was in this honor that the snowboarders of Tahoe paid tribute by racing in the first annual Boreal Banked Slalom & Brewfest. A costumed-shredboard race to benefit the High Fives Foundation, a Tahoe-based 501.c.3 non-profit organization dedicated to raising money and awareness for athletes who have suffered a life-altering injury while pursuing their dream in the winter action sports community.

The day was filled with high fives, sunny skies and an unforgettable course hand built by Lane Knaack and the Woodward Tahoe Terrain Parks crew. Snowboard legends like Chris Roach and Roan Rogers shredded the hell out of the venue, but in the end, it was X-Games gold medalist, Nate Holland of the Alkasqualics who got his name engraved on the #BBS Stanley Cup trophy.
It was an all-day affair with banked slalom in the morning and après party in the afternoon with three live bands on the sunny Boreal deck overlooking the mountain. Industry heads and local bros toasted Dos Equis with each other celebrating snowboarding and kick ass charities until the sun set on Donner Pass.
We’ll see YOU next year…
