For Mike Basich, the dream of living surrounded by wilderness and in a home he built with his own two hands was a life long one. After an incredibly successful snowboard career, there came a point that he had enough with the competition circuit, and pulled the trigger. After purchasing 40 acres of land on Donner Summit, Mike continued to spend five years on the project, ultimately building a cabin, working chairlift, and completing his life long goal, the creation of Area 241.
