Eero Ettala first told me about this video back in January. “A tour of Helsinki,” he claimed, where the city gave him nearly free reign to produce this short with the help of Red Bull.
For years, Eero scoured the streets of Finland’s capitol for everything from Standard Films, Mack Dawg Productions, to his own award-winning web series, Cooking With Gas. Countless nighttime sessions with fellow Finns like Heikki Sorsa and Lauri Heiskari established Helsinki as an iconic destination for street riding; a rail connoisseur’s paradise.
Many spots were made famous by Eero in his video parts over the past 15 years, but to watch them flow together in “Helsinki Transitions” is unlike anything we have seen from this city. It’s a clear departure from the traditional, a reflection of Eero’s decision to leave the video part in the past and focus on new projects. I have to say, I like where he is heading.
