North Carolina was one of the original 13 Colonies, is considered to be part of the Old South, and is not the most likely place where one would find a thriving snowboarding community. But where there is a downward slope and even a little bit of snow, people will go ride. Alex Andrews has gone from the Midwest, New England, and now North Carolina in search of the places where our culture is not only alive and well, but thriving. The people featured in this short film live and breathe snowboarding, even though they have much less opportunity even compared to their northerly neighbors. Snowboarding’s Dead: North Carolina proves that is in fact, the exact opposite; a vibrant community of people who love the shred regardless of conditions.

This is the third episode of Snowboarding’s Dead! The local’s took us in with open arms, and showed us what it’s like being a snowboarder in North Carolina. There is really something special about this place, and going there as an outsider, opened my eyes to how amazing the culture of snowboarding can be even in places you didn’t know it existed. The local snowboard shops, people and amazing scenery are what make this place so unique. I hope you enjoy the episode and if you get the chance to check out North Carolina, I strongly suggest you do it! Thanks to all the local shredders, shops, and people who made this happen, can’t wait to go back! — Alex Andrews
