When “The Art of FLIGHT” was released in 2011, its scale was unprecedented. Everything involved simply defied logic in the minds of the millions of people that watched the snowboarding epic from Travis Rice, Brain Farm and Red Bull Media House. After that came silence. Secrecy. Few people had any idea what Travis and the rest of the crew have been doing since “The Art of FLIGHT.”
“This process we follow, this cycle we ride.” — Bryan Iguchi
“The Fourth Phase” is a display of snowboarding at its pinnacle; the direct result of money, talent and importantly, time. When it’s all said and done, nearly four years will be dedicated to create this film. This trailer reflects every bit of drive to create something unlike snowboarding, or the world, has ever seen. It comes at a time when we need a spark to excite casual riders, lifers and non-snowboarders alike. “The Fourth Phase” has a stage to show the masses why we welcome storms when others curse them, why we dream about a powder turn or speak in a cryptic language that most just don’t understand.
The curtain has been raised. Travis Rice, you have the floor.

Official release from Red Bull Media House:
The innovators behind the “The Art of FLIGHT,” Red Bull Media House in association with Brain Farm, provide a peek into iconic snowboarder Travis Rice’s highly-anticipated return in “The Fourth Phase.” The film’s teaser marks the first glimpse into the project, which began production in 2013 and has been kept tightly under wraps until today.
“It has taken everything I have learned over my life to prepare for what the past several years has challenged us with. Immersion into the winter wilderness with a few trusted comrades and a vow to not ride anything we have ever ridden before has made this the most exciting project yet,” said Rice. “We have a team of some of the most committed riders, and a production crew that has gone all in. We’re headed back into the field soon, but before we go dark again we wanted to share a taste of what we’ve been working on.”
Rice and some of snowboarding’s most innovative riders including Mark Landvik, Mikkel Bang, Eric Jackson, Pat Moore, Bryan Iguchi and more have set off on an adventure spanning multiple seasons to some of the most remote locations ever ridden.
“We redefined the action sports film genre and dramatically expanded the audience with ‘The Art of FLIGHT,’” said Scott Bradfield, Head of Production and Development for Red Bull Media House North America. “Working with a team that can reach the world’s most daunting environments, combined with Travis’ vision and a highly cinematic narrative; we hope to raise the bar again with our biggest feature film to date.”
Brain Farm’s latest arsenal of camera technology is capturing all the action in 4K ultra high-definition with four times the pixel count of HD to bring viewers even closer to the experience and breath-taking scenery. The film will also receive a Dolby Vision™ grade and Dolby Atmos® mix combining spectacular image and sound technologies to deliver audiences a captivating cinematic experience employed only on the highest profile, major studio features.
“Making this film has been one of the most challenging, yet gratifying experiences in my life. Our team has pushed deep into the backcountry with new technology in hopes to capture snowboarding in a way it has never been seen before,” said Curt Morgan, CEO of Brain Farm and co-director of the film. “From the adventure, to the outstanding athleticism, to the very real story that unfolds this film will undoubtedly be unique.”
