Only a few can keep up with some of the most adventurous people on the planet, folks like snowboarder Jeremy Jones and mountaineer Jimmy Chin. Photographer/cinematographer Chris Figenshau happens to on the list. When Jones began making films of his long and arduous foot-powered backcountry missions, Figenshau became his filming counterpart. He not only has the skill to climb and ski the same terrain as Jones and Chin, but he also captures the “raw emotion” that glues viewers to their seats when they’re, say, watching Jones claw his way up a razor-sharp peak.

In this short video feature by Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Figenshau’s humble nerves of steel, which he typically uses to steady a camera from a precarious couloir, are front and center.

Indeed, as Chin put it: “He is the guy that everyone calls when they need someone to do the job that no one else wants to do.”
