Weather is always a factor in any snowboarding competition, but particularly when it’s a backcountry freeride competition. The Masters of Snowboarding is making a triumphant return this year within the Subaru Freeride Series, which has been going down all week at Snowbird Resort in Utah. Due to high winds and other weather concerns, the event organizers decided to make use of the allotted weather day of Sunday, February 8th to hold run one and finals of the men’s division and the finals for the women (the ladies were able to complete their qualifying runs before high winds cancelled the rest of the day.)

This is just the first of four events for the Subaru Freeride Series, which will go to Telluride, CO from March 4–8, Alaska’s Alyeska Resort from March 18–22, and a final stop at Big Sky Resort, MT on March 25–29.
