Boston-based New Balance joins forces with the world’s leading snowboard brand Burton, for a limited-edition Burton x New Balance line of street-to-snow footwear that could only come from two active wear icons. Inspired by shared New England roots and similar brand ideology, the Burton x New Balance collection will offer three New Balance outdoor footwear SKUs and three limited edition Burton snowboard boot styles that merge distinct design aesthetics from both brands. The first ever Burton x New Balance collection will be available exclusively at select Burton flagship stores and www.burton.com beginning October 24th, followed by a global release including New Balance retailers on November 1st.

At the core of the collection are three distinct styles, each cross-developed to create both an outdoor footwear version and a full performance snowboard boot. The resulting six SKUs are inspired by classic designs by each brand, including the iconic New Balance 710 model, used by the team that made the first American ascent of the Everest North Wall, and the Burton Ion and Fiend snowboard boots.
The first two collection styles take the just-released New Balance HVL710 and reinvent it for outdoor and snowboard performance. On the footwear side this includes an outdoor style with a performance Vazee sole unit and inner booty construction, creating a whole new model that is designed with the 24/7 consumer in mind. The corresponding snowboard boot model, the Burton x New Balance HVL710, co-inspired by the modern, technology-driven Burton Ion LTD snowboard boot, matches its footwear counterpart in overall look and feel including matching reflective details, honeycomb textured mesh and strong grey and black colorblocking.
Also taking inspiration from the New Balance 710 silhouette, Burton worked with New Balance on the aesthetic of an all-new snowboard boot style called the Burton Imperial x New Balance, co-developed with a matching outdoor shoe version, the New Balance 710 Vazee. With cues from the footwear style, the limited edition boot channels Burton’s 30-years of snowboard boot development with a genuine nubuck leather shell, lightweight Vibram® EcoStep™ soles for added grip, footprint reducing Shrinkage™, plus B3 Gel cushioning for ultimate board feel and Sleeping Bag heat-reflective foil for warmth. The limited edition Burton Imperial x New Balance boot and corresponding New Balance 710 Vazee footwear style, both done in a striking navy and tan combination, provide just the right balance of performance and function both on and off the mountain.
Lastly, the 3rd pairing in the collection takes its design feel from the classic New Balance HRL710 model, combined with the aesthetic of the Burton Fiend snowboard boot. Both the outdoor footwear and snowboard boot versions pay homage to the history of both styles using key details such as a Burton woven textile and navy colorway on the upper, full grain leather, navy pig suede, strong print blocking and REVLITE® technology, all rolled up in bold and classic silhouettes for either snow or street.
The Burton x New Balance collection redefines winter mobility with trusted and proven design and performance hallmarks from both sides. The entire line will be available beginning October 24th in Burton flagship stores and on burton.com, and at select New Balance retailers starting November 1st.
