With winter finally in full swing here in Colorado and around the country, and copious amounts of snow falling as you read this, what better time to throw a re-Grand Opening party for the newly renovated barn at Woodward Copper than over Thanksgiving weekend.

Since it’s an Olympic year, Copper opened their pipe this past weekend and it’s been littered with top pros putting in the time to hone there skills for the upcoming events and, most importantly, Olympic qualifying events.

Saturday morning we kicked off the festivities with an early rise as we hiked up to the newly erected 22-foot superpipe for a private training session with the US Snowboard team. With the likes of Scotty Lago, Louie Vito, Elena Hight, Greg Bretz, Hannah Teter, and Gretchen Bleiler to name a few, there would be no chance for disappointment.

Although early, these guys and gals started sending it early into the private session. I mean, they are professionals…

Once the pipe session closed down, the Woodward barn started to pop off as the Copper opened it up to the public to test out the new facilities. The entire time the invited pros where throwing down from Benji Farrow getting busy in the new rhythm section to pro skaters Curren Caples, Louie Lopez and Jono Schwan as well as pro BMX riders Morgan Wade, Gary Young and Zack Warden giving the public a free lesson in how to crush The Barn. It was pretty cool to see so many good riders doing their thing all in one place. There’s no better spot to witness this than The Barn at Woodward Copper, that’s for sure.

It would be a long, fun day at The Barn as kids and adults got loose on the tramps and enjoyed the new facility the way it was designed to be used. Once the open sessions wrapped up, the bar opened up and The Barn turned into a full on dance party as Paper Diamonds dropped tunes from the DJ Nest (Yeah, I made that up. But that’s exactly what it is.) way up above the entire facility.

Free drinks where flowing, something no one was complaining about, and good times where had as we wrapped up the Woodward Remix from The Barn at Copper Mountain. If you haven’t experienced the newly renovated facility, your first stop should be Woodward Copper, we guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
