ENTER THE BEATING FILM FESTIVAL AT SILVERTON
Saturday, January 1, 2011 @ 7PM Pride of the West Tavern / Silverton, CO The Beating is an amateur ski and snowboard film festival showcasing undiscovered talent. If you are ripping huge lines, throwing killer tricks, and shredding deep powder, then now is the time to come share your work. Hosted by the Silverton Mountain Ski Area in Colorado, The Beating is designed to be the “core” version of The Meeting held in Aspen each fall.
Silverton Mountain, SOLRC (an outdoor education non-profit), Freeskier Magazine, and Snowboard Magazine have come together to give aspiring athletes and filmmakers The Beating – a chance to share their passion with skiers and riders across the world. The event will also help raise money for Silverton Mountain’s High School scholarship ski and snowboard program.
Top 5 videos will win a Contour HD and other great prizes from Smith, Red Bull and K2. Videos will be shown at the Film Festival on 1/1/11. And last but certainly not least, the “Best Film” at The Beating will earn it’s maker a free heli drop at Silverton. Submissions are open to any and all filmmakers. Entry is free online, but we ask for a $20 donation per filmmaker, with up to three short films per filmmaker.
The edited and polished 5 minute short films should be uploaded to vimeo here no later than December 26, 2010. Films under 5 minutes are also welcomed. All that is required is a CREATIVE snow film that incorporates new ideas and styles in the realm of comedic, documentary, sci-fi, horror, fantasy, musical or beyond.
To be eligible for the final showing and the free heli drop at Silverton Mountain, films must be received by the deadline. The filmmaker does not have to be present the night of the event to win.
The top 5 films submitted to the contest by December 26, 2010 will be shown at the Pride of the West Tavern on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at 7pm. All entries will be judged by a special panel comprised of representatives from Silverton Mountain, Freeskier Magazine, and Snowboard Magazine.
