After a riveting first stop in Crested Butte, the Subaru Freeride Series is ready for round two, which is set to go off in Telluride, CO March 20-23. The event will include a 4-star Freeride World Qualifier (FWQ) comp, as did the Crested Butte stop, on Saturday, March 23. The Squaw Valley/Alpine stop of the tour has been postponed.

“We are very excited to bring the Subaru Freeride Series to Telluride,” said Bryan Barlow SFS event director. “Telluride is known for its incredible big mountain terrain and culture making it the perfect fit for this series. Freeriders of all ages and abilities will be able to enjoy the event by spectating, participating in the festival or attending two amazing musical performances.”

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH (Feb. 18, 2014)- Following an exciting competition in Crested Butte, the Subaru Freeride Series (SFS) now prepares for its next stop in Telluride, Colo. March 20-23. The event will feature a 4-star Freeride World Qualifier (FWQ) ski and snowboard competition March 21 & 22, and a 2-star Junior Freeride Tour (JFT) competition for athletes age 12-18 on March 23. Telluride has experienced wonderful ski conditions this season. Fans are encouraged to join the event onsite or online. The adult 4-star finals, Sat. March 23, will be webcast live on subarufreerideseries.com.

The stop at Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows has been postponed. More information will be available at a later date.

Each Subaru Freeride Series event will take place as part of the Subaru Winter Fest, a weekend event focused on educating snow enthusiasts of all abilities about the sport and evolution of freeride through unique exhibits and activities. Entertainment also includes special performances by Steele Pulse March 20 at the Telluride Conference Center and Michael Franti & Spearhead March 23 at the Sheridan Opera House.

The series will provide athletes the opportunity to earn valuable Freeride World Qualifier points in pursuit of advancing to the 2015 Freeride World Tour. In addition to podium awards, one skier and snowboarder at each event will be selected as the recipients of the Backcountry.com Sick Bird award.
