“Marco Smolla’s Bavarian Split” — Trailer

From Red Bull:

Marco Smolla, Xaver Hoffmann, David Benedek, Christophe Schmidt, twin brothers Fips and Tobi Strauss, Elias Elhardt, and 16-year-old rookie Luis Eckert take on the Bavarian backcountry, in a new Red Bull documentary, “Marco Smolla’s Bavarian Split,” which drops December 6, 2013.

In March the task force set off with film-makers and photographer to investigate for three weeks the mountains around the Allgäu and Garmisch including hefty hikes and laid-back huts. “I’m really looking forward to hit the Bavarian Alps with four generations of German snowboarding on splitboards, to sleep in huts and to enjoy the beauty of our mountains.”, stated Marco enthusiastically in the run-up to the project.

The documentary shows that the boys got used to the unfamiliar equipment and the challenges of the Bavarian Alps pretty fast. The result is fantastic pictures of excellent powder lines, solid kicker action, idyllic hut life, and above all plenty of fun, which couldn’t have emerged much better in Canada or any other renowned freeriding destinations.
